Edmonton IKEA Kitchen Renovations

The other day I was chatting with a potential client who was surprised that I often work with IKEA kitchens for my projects. I think there is this stereotype that working with a designer means only utilizing high-end, custom products - and I don’t fit that stereotype. Having a well designed space doesn’t mean it has to be expensive. It can be, but it doesn’t have to be. And also, I just happen to really love some of the features that come along with IKEA kitchens that are generally upgrades from other cabinet suppliers. So I figured why not recap 10 IKEA kitchens I’ve worked on here in Edmonton. Some are straight up IKEA and others utilize the IKEA x Kitch combo.

1 Ramsay Heights Project 2016

My first ever IKEA kitchen - a small but mighty space! My client wanted a functional space with more storage and a vibe that was reminiscent of her travels in Southern Europe. Read more.

2 Allendale Project 2017

This was my first IKEA x Kitch kitchen - and guess what - it’s my own! I went with a two-toned Fenix shaker and am still loving it. The IKEA fittings gave me so much functional storage that was lacking before and I adore the black and white cabinetry. Read more.

3 Gariepy Project 2019

The big island and ample pantry storage were key components of bring this family’s kitchen goals to life. It’s truly the hub of their home now and it looks amazing too. 4 Forest Heights Basement Suite Project 2020

The key to a good basement suite kitchen is function, storage and keeping things bright. This one is fully IKEA with two toned wood and white cabinets. I always like to up-level a rental kitchen with classic subway tile and quartz countertops. Read more.

5 Allendale Basement Suite Project 2018

Speaking of basement suites, here is another one that is done fully with IKEA. Since it was finished it’s gone through multiple tenants and still looks like new! And once again, the little details like quartz countertops, a tiled backsplash and non-IKEA hardware changes up the look. Read more.

6 Ramsay Heights Condo Project 2020

Back to the Ramsay Heights neighbourhood but a different building. My clients wanted a clean and modern feel that was still inviting. They love playing with light and this IKEA x Kitch combo is the perfect backdrop for it. I love adding those little custom features and this one has a wine rack, cookbook shelf and step stool cubby that I designed to fill in some otherwise useless space. More info coming soon.

7 North Glenora Project 2018

This older home is now incredibly stylish with this kitchen. It’s fully IKEA but the tile backsplash and custom designed shelves add so much character. Oh and that sink - such a beautiful cast iron beast. Read more.

8 Meadowlark Project 2019

This kitchen replaced an original 1950s one that had not great storage, a tiled countertop and no dishwasher. This is a fully IKEA one that we spruced up with stunning quartz countertops, to the ceiling beveled subway tile and floating shelves. And solid walnut hardwood *chefs kiss*. Read more.

9 West Jasper Place Project 2020

The navy here adds so much class. Another one that is fully IKEA with walnut butcher block countertops and a little bit of extra flair from the brass hardware. This condo significantly increased its storage capacity and we added a dishwasher too. Read more.

10 Canossa Project 2021

The most recently completed kitchen is an iKEA x Kitch combo again. This is also the longest island I’ve done - just shy of 16’! And really, would you ever guess this is an IKEA kitchen under the hood? Full blog post coming soon!

In addition to kitchens, I also like to use IKEA cabinetry for other areas of the house too. Built in sideboards, office cabinets and more!
