As many of you know, I recently completed the inaugural Inspired Room Transformation program with 7 amazing humans. I’m going to share a few of their transformations! First up to be showcased is Tamara and her Basement transformation! She turned this bland and boring basement into an inviting and warm space for her clients to relax (and where she can relax too) !

Have you ever googled “what is the best white paint colour?” Or read a blog post about someone’s top paint colours? I know you’re just hoping to get some assistance in what seems like an endless choice of various, similar shades of white. I understand, I do. But here’s the thing. It doesn’t matter what other people think is the best white.

I truly believe that this one, small, relatively inexpensive action sets the tone for your landlord-tenant relationship.

Well now I have a home base for my business. A space that I LOVE to sit and work in. A space where I feel calm, creative, focused and let’s be honest, I feel like a boss in this space. It actually makes my business feel more legit. I feel productive in this space and you know what - my business has expanded since I moved into this space. And yeah, that means increased profits too.

I’m sure you’ve heard it before, collaboration over competition. This is something I aim to focus on in my business. The others out there who are doing similar things to me are technically my competition in the business sense of the word but in reality, I choose not to see them this way. Here’s why:

I am so excited to share this family room transformation! For one, the before and after is a little mind blowing, but mainly, I adore this project because of what it created for this amazing family. It went from an underused, underloved space to THE space in the house to hang out, entertain, do homework, and most importantly - spend time together as a family. I feel as though the theme of this whole project was trust. I definitely suggested changes that pushed my clients out of their comfort zone. That can be hard for anyone. But when it came down to it, they knew that there was a reason they brought me in to begin with and that they just had to trust. Suffice it to say, they are very happy they did.

I feel as though it is fitting to discuss energy efficiency when it comes to our homes on a week where Edmonton is apparently one of the coldest places on earth. We definitely don’t need any cold drafts getting in and we want our home’s systems to be doing their job with ease to keep us all comfortable.

A Heart-to-Home session is the foundation to my design process. It combines aspects of Danielle Laporte’s The Desire Map with my own experiences and expertise in interior design.

We all deserve to have a home we love, that we are proud of, that supports us.. And achieving this doesn’t mean you need to have a lot of money to throw at it or the ability to renovate or buy a new home. It means small, inspired actions that can make a huge impact on how you feel in your home and, as a result, how you feel about your life.

I was very excited about styling this particular rooftop balcony. Every home I work on - whether it’s a big renovation project or a colour consultation - I get attached to in one way or another. This particular home I consulted on from the plans, to the build, to the finishes and decor. So yeah, I am definitely attached to this one.

If you follow along with my stories on Instagram you may notice something - I specify quartz for kitchens 95% of the time. Even in homes that are destined to be a rental. I might even say, especially in homes that are destined to be a rental.

Most of the main floor of our home remained as it was - except for the kitchen and mud room space. It went full-on gut job.
